What is Pilates?

The Pilates Method is a movement technique developed by Joseph Pilates which trains practitioners to integrate Mind and Body, creating many positive overall benefits. The foundation of Pilates is focused on strengthening the trunk or “core” of the body. This includes the deepest abdominal muscles which act as an internal corset for the body, as well as the muscles of the pelvic floor and many stabilizing muscles (such as those along the spine and supporting the ribcage).

Pilates Private Sessions

We offer specialized private instruction that focuses on work with classical apparatus including the Universal Reformer, Cadillac (or Trapeze Table), Pilates Chair (or Wunda Chair), and Ladder Barrel, as well as various other small equipment. Our instructors are certified by rigorous courses that are recognized by the Pilates Method Alliance, as well as Pilates for Golf. Each 55 min session may be arranged for an individual, duet or trio. We look forward to arranging a session that fits your needs!


Reformer Classes

Enjoy the benefits of the universal Reformer in a small group setting. We request at least 2 private sessions (try our Intro Package) before joining any Reformer class. Classes are limited to 6 people in order to ensure personalized attention and proper execution of repertoire.

How often?

A consistent schedule of 2 to 3 times a week will result in a favorable restructuring of the musculature. In fact, Pilates is so friendly to the body (no major tearing of the muscles; very low impact on the joints) that daily sessions are perfectly healthy and encouraged. With programs designed for each client’s particular needs, results are frequently noticed in just a few sessions! In the case of previous injury or other physical limitation, each exercise can be modified for safe rehabilitation and future injury prevention.

Pilates for Golf

Pilates for Golf is the one golf fitness program that will help you hit the ball consistently further and straighter, with reduced risk of injury and back pain. Pilates for golf builds strength and flexibility simultaneously, develops core strength, improves posture and alignment, and creates stability - all the elements needed for a great swing!

Pilates for Tennis

Tennis is a sport that involves both power and agility. We recognize that you not only need to be quick to the net but have powerful serves and muscle endurance to last the match. Pilates exercise, along with regular cardiovascular work, will give you that extra edge on the court.

Pilates for Running

Running is a very effective way to condition your cardiovascular system and strengthen your lower body. However, running may leave you with tight hamstrings and hips. Pilates exercises will help build the muscles you need to run with ease, while keeping your legs & hips flexible.

Pilates for Biking

Most bike riders know that long periods of time bent forward on the bike can leave your lower back a little sore and tight, as well as interfering with proper posture. By strengthening your abdominals and lower back with Pilate’s exercises you will be getting off the bike pain free and standing tall.
